DID YOU KNOW...

That children with at least one placement in foster care are significantly more likely to have a delinquency petition, compared with children who have never entered foster care.

OR

Group homes often serve multiple populations of young people, meaning delinquent youth often live with youth with other issues and a number of youth begin selling drugs and associating with gangs after observing their peers in the group home involved in similar activities.

THE J.H. GUNN PROJECT SYNOPSIS

A group of juvenile delinquents, all products of foster care, are sentenced to spending time with terminally ill felons instead of juvenile hall. After a horrific tragedy, and an intense meeting with an inmate, one of the delinquents turns his life around.

THE PROJECT

The J.H. Gunn Project is a film that deals with the ramifications that can occur from foster care, lack of opportunity, and juvenile delinquency. This story follows a young boy who is born into dire circumstances and can’t seem to stay out of trouble or go to school until he experiences a horrific tragedy.  The theme of this project is to show youth that are in similar situations that their lives can also yield positive results.

MISSION
The mission of this project is to create a film that is reflective of the lives of a certain group of youth that are often overlooked in society and are products of their environment. Juvenile delinquency, foster care, and jail are all commonalities that these youth seem to have in common. Our plan with this project is to make a very honest film that reflects all of these issues and gives a positive spin on things to hopefully inspire these fractured individuals to learn from their mistakes and gain a true sense of hope and pride within themselves.
